The Nainamvalappu Football Association has flayed the Kozhikode Corporation for handing over the EMS Corporation Stadium for the SuperCross Motorbike racing event recently, which reportedly damaged the grass covering of the ground.

The association alleged that the stadium was handed over for the high-profile event, denying the Kerala Football Association a chance to conduct the semi-final and final of the Super League Kerala.

This happened at a time when the stadium was being considered as a venue for the Indian Super League, considering the packed galleries for any football event in Kozhikode. The association demanded that the Corporation not hand over the stadium for any event other than football in the future.

Meanwhile, football lovers in the city, under the aegis of Kozhikode Football Stadium Protection Committee, will stage a protest in front of the Corporation office on Saturday (January 3) at 4 p.m.
