Punjab Vigilance Bureau officials on Wednesday (June 25 2025) raided former Punjab Minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia’s residence in Amritsar, even as the Bureau has yet not officially confirmed the development.

Shiromani Akali Dal stands steadfast with Bikram Singh Majithia. It is clear that chief minister @BhagwantMann & @AamAadmiParty have been unnerved by the resolute manner in which Mr Majithia has taken on the govt and exposed its corrupt and amoral acts.

Mr. Majithia, who is the brother-in-law of SAD president and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, has been reportedly taken into custody. The Bureau has so far not shared details about the case in which the SAD leader is being questioned. A local police official in Amritsar told media persons that the team reached at Mr. Majithia’s residence was that of the Vigilance Bureau.

Terming the action as ‘political vendetta’, SAD president Badal, asserted that the party stands steadfast with Bikram Singh Majithia. He said the Aam Aadmi Party has been unnerved by the resolute manner in which Mr. Majithia has taken on the government and exposed its corrupt and amoral acts.

“We will not be cowed down by the brutal attempts to suppress the voice of the people expressed by Mr Majithia and other Akali leaders by letting loose State agencies against them. This is not the first time that political vendetta has been unleashed against the Akali leadership. We will take it head-on,” he said in a post on ‘X’.
