Minister Irfan Ansari, MP Sanjay Seth attend Rims meet
Ranchi: Procurement of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine, urgent repair and replacement of non-functional ventilators at the trauma centre, and strict enforcement of biometric attendance to curb unauthorised private practice will take place at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences.
These were approved by the Governing Body of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) at its meeting on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by state health minister.Officials were also instructed to fast-track procurement processes, address logistical hurdles, and ensure uninterrupted medical services. “Lives cannot wait. MRI procurement and ventilator repairs must move ahead without delay,” Ansari said.Additionally, Rims director Dr Raj Kumar has been asked to identify doctors allegedly engaged in private practice during duty hours. Biometric attendance and stricter duty-time controls will be introduced across all departments. Ansari said, "These steps are intended to restore public trust and discipline in the system, not to impose arbitrary punishment."Orders were issued for immediate building repairs, clean-up drives, and a structured upkeep plan to enhance patient facilities.
“Instructions for swift implementation of key proposals have been issued to the health facility, and significant progress is anticipated soon,” said additional chief secretary, health, Ajoy Kumar Singh.The meeting was also attended by Justice Amreshwar Sahay, Union minister of state for defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, MLA Suresh Kumar Baitha, Ranchi University vice-chancellor, the Rinpas director, senior finance officials, and divisional administration representatives.
Members also reviewed court guidelines and compliance on 16 major agendas, including purchase delays, Trauma Centre facilities, and systemic shortcomings.Ansari said, “We are determined to bring change at every level. Soon, people will see comprehensive reforms ensuring better treatment and modern facilities for patients.”The Governing Body will reconvene on Oct 9 to assess progress on the directives and deliberate on pending proposals, he said.
