Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 continues its dominance at the box office even in the third week, it has now become the 9th biggest hit of Indian Cinema. A closer look at the total collection of the film reveals that its original language Kannada and Hindi have been the two major engines for the overall collection of the film. The film has been released in 5 languages in India.
But the Hindi version has a slight edge over the Kannada language and has slowly but steadily rising the charts and is well on its way to cross the Rs 200 crore mark. At the end of three weeks the film has collected Rs 192.65 crore going past Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0, directed by
Shankar which had minted Rs 190.48 crore from it’s lifetime theatrical run in Hindi. And by beating 2.0, Kantara 2 has entered the list of Top 50 hits of Hindi Cinema and it is currently sitting on the 48th spot.And going by the trends Kantara 2 is expected to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in Hindi over the next few days.The film will see a slight competition from two new releases in
Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika’s Thamma and Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat but both films have underperformed for a Diwali release.Kantara 2 features Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram and Rakimini Vasanth in pivotal roles, the makers have announced the third part with the climax of the second part. But it is going to be a while before Rishab returns to the franchise as he already has Jai Hanuman with Teja Sajja and Prashant Varma along with Sandeep Singh’s biopic on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
