The bridge over Koel river whose pillars were damaged

Ranchi: A team of experts from the railways will inspect the cracks, on the pillars of the bridge over Koel River between Nagjua and Lohardaga stations on the Ranchi-Lohardaga- Tori section from Tuesday, officials here said.Karuna Nidhi Singh, the divisional railway manager (DRM) of Ranchi railway division of South Eastern Railways, said, “Services of trains along the route have been affected after two pillars of the bridge number 115 developed some cracks.”“Experts of railway board and railway headquarters will visit the location on Tuesday to ascertain why the cracks developed. Based on the inspection, they will carve out plans to solve the issues.

Initially, a pier of the bridge suffered tilting and bridge experts were already engaged there to address the issue. Meanwhile, the pillars also suffered cracks, which the experts will examine,” Singh added.The 18635 Ranchi–Sasaram Express was cancelled on Monday. Divisional officials said the train will remain cancelled till Wednesday. On the return led, the 18636 Sasaram–Ranchi Express will remain cancelled from Tuesday to January 8.

“Due to a crack between pillars number four and five of bridge number 115 located on the Koel River between Nagjua and Lohardaga stations. the 08611 Santragachi - Ajmer Special Express via Ranchi, commencing its journey on January 5, has been diverted via Muri - Barkakana - Tori instead of its scheduled route Muri - Ranchi - Lohardaga – Tori,” a statement of the Ranchi railway division said on Monday.
