RMC gears up for cleanliness survey

Ranchi: Ahead of this year’s Swachh Survekshan next month, Ranchi Municipal Corporation has begun groundwork to clock better ranking and has initiated coordinated efforts to convert capital into garbage free city.On Friday, additional administration Sanjay Kumar held a meeting in this regard with officials to prepare a detailed action plan. For effective achievement of targets, a total of 10 teams were formed to conduct activities at micro-level across 53 wards.Kumar said, “Directives have been given to identify four to five spots across residential, commercial and tourist places under each ward for rollout of focused action which will include daily regular cleaning, citizen participation, waste segregation and unhindered access for waste collection vehicles.”This apart, RMC will prepare separate beat plan for twice-daily waste collection in commercial areas.“Coordination will be established with market unions to create GVP (garbage vulnerable points) free areas. GVP sites will also beautified. Focus will also be on curbing single use plastic in the city through awareness and special campaigns in schools and public places,” he said.“During the meeting, special emphasis was given on providing citizens with information about waste segregation, waste collection vehicle timings, QR Code and toll free number for complaints and suggestions," he said.
