Ranchi: Road safety month is being observed across the state during which various functions including distribution of rose flowers, rallies, street plays and vehicle checking drive would be organized to inspire people regarding pursuing traffic norms.
Organised under the aegis of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the national road safety month which started on Jan 1 will conclude on Jan 31.In Ranchi city, district transport officer Akhilesh Kumar along with his team organized a ‘rose at road’ programme where they distributed roses among people found violating traffic norms at Bodeya road and Kutchery More. Kumar said, “The gesture was aimed to make people realize their mistakes.
I distributed roses among at least 30 people while overall 200 flowers were given away. Fines were not imposed for today.
”He added that Ranchi DC Manjunath Bhajantri would flag off the ‘Jagrukta Rath’ (awareness vehicle) on road safety on Saturday. Kumar said that this time women’s self help groups and the elected local representatives would also be involved in spreading awareness in rural areas.
