Singer-composer Devi Sri Prasad is set to step into the role of a lead actor for the first time with Yellamma, to be directed by Balagam fame Venu Yeldandi. The pan-Indian film is described as a rural emotional drama rooted in Telugu life and culture.
“The story is set in a village and reflects our people, beliefs and emotions. At its core, it is an emotional drama,” Venu said.
The director added that the casting evolved naturally. “I wrote the story without any actor in mind. After that, I approached Devi Sri Prasad garu. He liked the script and immediately came on board. He is now preparing for the role by studying and understanding the character,” he shared. Devi Sri Prasad will also compose the music for the film.

The director Venu Yeldandi notes that Yellamma, despite its rural backdrop, is distinct from Balagam. “While writing, I felt divinely guided. That experience led me to explore the magic of a higher, superior force, which is why the film is titled Yellamma,” he says
