NEW DELHI: ‘RPM was high’, said a woman who accidentally drove a brand-new Mahindra Thar through the glass wall of a car showroom in east Delhi, denying rumours that she was seriously injured or killed in the crash.The incident took place on Monday evening at a showroom in Nirman Vihar.According to police, the vehicle — worth more than Rs 15 lakh — was being tested on the first floor when Pawar allegedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.
The Thar smashed through the glass wall, plunged and overturned.According to the woman, her husband and a showroom employee were inside the vehicle and escaped without serious injuries.In a video statement posted on Instagram, Pawar dismissed false reports circulating on social media that she had died or sustained fractures.“I am alive and not dead. Please stop spreading fake videos,” she said.“Once the car fell, all three of us exited through the front door and none of us sustained any injuries.”She added that the SUV was at “high RPM” when it suddenly accelerated, causing the plunge.Footage of the accident, showing the overturned vehicle lying amid shattered glass, has been widely shared online.
