'Rumours Were Spread’: Premanand Ji Maharaj, Battling Kidney Failure, Now Stable, Says Bageshwar Baba

Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri recently visited Premanand Ji Maharaj at Radha Hit Kelikunj Ashram in Vrindavan.

In a major piece of good news for devotees worldwide, Bageshwar Dham Peethadhishwar Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has confirmed that spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj, who suffers from polycystic kidney disease (PKD), is currently stable. 

Addressing widespread rumours about the Maharaj’s condition, Shastri stated, “Many rumours were being spread about his health, but he is fine now. I went to give him an invitation for the padayatra. He accepted our invitation and showered us with a lot of love."

What do we know about Premanand Ji Maharaj’s health?

Premanand Ji Maharaj’s health has been a matter of concern for devotees. The Maharaj suffers from PKD, a serious genetic disorder that has led to complete kidney failure. He is now on daily dialysis, which has necessitated the indefinite suspension of his routine padayatra and public engagements.

Despite visible symptoms, including facial swelling and weakness, statements from his ashram have clarified that his condition is currently stable. In a display of spiritual acceptance, the Maharaj himself has said, “Both kidneys have failed; there is nothing left to fix… now, if not today, then tomorrow, I have to go."

Bageshwar Baba meets Premanand Ji Maharaj in Vrindavan

Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri recently visited Premanand Ji Maharaj at Radha Hit Kelikunj Ashram in Vrindavan to inquire about his health and seek blessings. The private meeting, which was not open to the public, captured attention on social media as videos of the encounter went viral.

During the meeting, Shastri sought the Maharaj’s blessings for the upcoming Sanatan Ekta Padayatra, a unity march scheduled from Delhi to Vrindavan between 7 and 16 November 2025. Premanand Ji Maharaj, despite his health struggles, blessed the initiative and highlighted the enduring importance of Sanatan Dharma, stating, “Sanatan Dharma is eternal, like the sun, air, and the earth; nothing exists without it."
