At least 45 people died in the tragic bus crash in Saudi Arabia. As per the reports, originally 54 people were set to board the ill-fated bus. However, eight of them opted for private transport. Of the total deceased people, most are from Hyderabad. As per the officials, a total of 54 people travelled to Jeddah from Hyderabad on November 9. 

As per a report by NDTV, the officials received a list of 46 people who chose the bus, while eight travelled through private transport. All of them booked their journey from Mecca to Medina with the same travel company.

The bus collided with an oil tanker about 25 km from Madina. The collision triggered a massive explosion that engulfed the vehicle within minutes. Several visuals showing huge blazes erupting from the accident site are being shared on social media.

Of the total 46 people on board, one person survived the accident and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar was quoted by PTI as saying, “We are getting information that 45 people died. They were supposed to return to Hyderabad on 23rd (of November)."

AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain said, “We have received information that over 40 people died in the accident, and we are coordinating with the families." The Consulate General of India in Jeddah, in a statement, said it and the Embassy in Riyadh are extending full support.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed condolences over the tragic bus accident.

In a post shared on X, the Defence Minister said, “Saddened by the tragic accident involving a bus carrying Indian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. My condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones."
