Senior Congress leader and former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, on Tuesday (June 2, 2026), met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Secretariat in Chennai.
This was the first time Mr. Chidambaram, who played an instrumental role in the seat-sharing negotiations between the DMK and the Congress in the run-up to the 2026 Assembly election, met Mr. Vijay after the latter assumed office.
General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area, Indian Army, Lieutenant General V. Sreehari; Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Chairman and Managing Director of LMW Limited; and office-bearers of the Tamil Nadu Omni Bus Owners’ Association also called on the Chief Minister, according to an official release.
T.N. Assembly Secretary resigns
In a separate development, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretary K. Srinivasan, on Tuesday ((June 2, 2026), resigned from his post. He handed over his resignation letter to Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar. Mr. Srinivasan, who had been serving in the post since 2018, received an extension of about three years in 2023. He had six months of service remaining. Speaking to The Hindu, he said he had resigned due to personal reasons.
