Senior police officer inspects Government Boys Home during Operation Smile XII

As part of the ongoing Operation Smile XII programme, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Hyderabad, M. Srinivasulu conducted a surprise inspection of the Government Boys Home at Saidabad to review the welfare and safety of children housed in the institution.

During the visit, the officer inspected the premises and interacted with 27 children, including some who were rescued as part of Operation Smile XII. He verified the facilities being provided to them, including food, education, medical care and accommodation, and reviewed whether the arrangements were in accordance with the prescribed norms.

The Additional Commissioner assessed the overall living conditions and safety measures at the home and examined the systems in place for the care, protection and rehabilitation of the children. He issued instructions to Government Boys Home superintendent Krishnaveni, and to Rajanna, to ensure that all basic amenities continued to be provided without any lapses and that the children received sustained support and supervision.

The visit underlined the importance of regular monitoring of child care institutions and the effective implementation of Operation Smile XII, which aims at tracing, rescuing and rehabilitating missing and vulnerable children. Officials said such inspections were intended to ensure accountability and to strengthen coordination among departments involved in child protection and welfare.

The inspection was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Safety Wing) P. Lavanya Naik Jadav, Balrakshak Bhavan coordinator Sumalatha, District Child Protection Officer (Hyderabad) Srinivas and in-charge of Child Protection (Hyderabad) Vijay Bhaskar.

Police said the continued focus of Operation Smile XII was not only on rescuing children from vulnerable situations but also on ensuring that those placed in government homes receive proper care, education, healthcare and a safe environment conducive to their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
