A candidate from the Shiv Sena, by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, was attacked with a knife during campaigning for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election. He was reportedly stabbed in the abdomen.

The candidate, Haji Salim Quraishi, who is contesting from Ward No. 92, was attacked by unidentified individuals in Gyaneshwar Nagar, Bandra.

He is currently undergoing treatment at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital.
