Belagavi-based Betageri Krishna Sharma Memorial Trust announced the annual awards for 2023, 2024 and 2025 for senior and young writers of the country.
Senior poet H.S. Shivaprakash has been selected for the annual poetry prize, thinker G. Ramakrishna for the journalism award and B.T. Jahnavi for the story award.
District in-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi will present the awards at a program to be held at the Kumar Gandharva Hall in Belagavi on Tuesday.
The three awards carry a cash prize of ₹50,000 each, trust president Vinaya Okkunda told reporters here on Sunday.
“We have selected three people for the Yuva Sahitya Puraskar. The 2023 award went to K. Akshata from Shivamogga, the 2024 award went to Wilson Kateel from Mangaluru and the 2025 award went to Arif Raja from Raichur. These awards carry a cash prize of ₹10,000 each,” she said.
“In the State-level story competition for the young, Manikantha Godamani won the first place, Santosh Nayak the second and Prahlada D.M. the third. In the State-level youth poetry competition, Sree Vidya won the first place, Manjula G.H. the second, Shivaraj Arali the third and Sree Mudradi the fourth. They will also be awarded prizes,” she said.
