Shukra Pradosh Vrat 2026: One of the most auspicious fasts is Pradosh Vrat. Pradosh Day falls on Trayodashi Tithi, the thirteenth day of Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha, and is solely devoted to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Shukra Pradosh Vrat in 2026: Significance

The Skanda Purana states that on the day of Pradosh, two different kinds of fasts are maintained.

One is the rigorous Pradosh vrat, which is observed for 24 hours and can be broken the following day, while the other is the daytime fast that can be broken at night.According to Hindu scripture, on this auspicious day, Lord Shiva and Godess Parvati feel incredibly happy and giving. Pradosh means "the first part of the evening." Regardless of age or gender, anyone can observe Pradosh vrat.On this day of Pradosh, some people are believed to even worship Lord Shiva in his Natraj form.

It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati grant happiness, success, prosperity, and the fulfillment of all desires to those who fast with complete devotion and dedication. Unmarried female devotees who worship Goddess Parvati and offer her shringaar are believed to receive their desired husbands.

Rituals for Shukra Pradosh Vrat in 2026

1. The devotees take a sacred bath after getting up early in the morning.2. Set up an idol of Shiva Parivaar (Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, and Skanda).3. Offer Mogra and rose flowers, the favorite flowers of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, light a diya with sesame oil or desi ghee, and offer sweets (any white sweet).4. Recite the Lord Shiva aarti and the Pradosh Vrat katha.5. Devotees must go to the temple and perform pooja and abhishekam to the shivalingam by using panchamrit.6. Devotees must recite Om Namaha Shivaye during Abhishekam.7. On the day of Pradosh, the followers are required to recite the Mahamrityunjay Mantra and Om Namaha Shivaye 108 times.8. Devotees who are unable to maintain a strict fast, break their fast at night and eat a satvik meal after offering bhog prasad to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
