SIO delegation meets Consul General of Iran in Hyderabad

In the wake of the heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, a delegation from the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) met Mahdi Shahrokhi, Consul General of Iran in Hyderabad, to express solidarity with the people of Iran and raise concerns about the safety of Indian students currently residing there.

The delegation, led by SIO’s Telangana State president, Mohd Faraz Ahmed, conveyed condolences for the lives lost in the recent attacks. The SIO, in a statement, termed the strikes a violation of international norms and diplomatic conventions, raising alarm over the targeting of civilian infrastructure and scientific personnel.

Recalling the historical and civilisational ties between India and Iran, SIO said it hoped that peace and stability would be restored through dialogue and diplomatic engagement. The organisation also appealed to the Government of India to ensure the safety of Indian students in Iran.

“We hope that peace and stability will prevail through diplomatic engagement and international cooperation,” the statement read.
