Jamshedpur: Seraikela-Kharsawan district police achieved 100% investigation compliance rate in sexual offence cases in 2025. According to the Investigation Tracking System for Sexual Offences (ITSSO) report, the district police successfully completed the investigation of the cases and filed the charge sheet in court against the accused within the 60-day time-frame.Notably, ITSSO is an initiative of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to help law enforcement agencies ensure online monitoring and timely investigation and compilation of sexual assault cases. The ITSSO module is integrated with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) for real-time tracking and reporting, aiding compliance with criminal law.Between Jan 1 and Dec 31, the district reported 33 cases related to sexual assault against women and children.
In 30 out of 33 cases, the police completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet within the stipulated 2-month time-frame.In the remaining three cases, arrests were made, and a speedy probe is underway to file the charge sheet in court. “The police have sufficient time to comply with the time-frame limit,” said a senior district police officer.“The cases pertaining to sexual offences against women and children are of first priority, and our district police is sensitive to such cases,” said SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat on the ITSSO report.
The SP added that the district police follow a ‘zero tolerance’ policy regarding sexual assault cases, and the police force has been trained to be sensitive in such cases to deliver timely justice to the survivors. In terms of case disposals, it has exceeded new case filings in 2025. The case disposal numbers of the Seraikela-Kharsawan police conclude that 1,422 cases were lodged in the district in 2025; however, 1,898 cases were disposed off.33.47% (476 cases) increase in case disposals is attributed to the special drive launched by the district police to periodically conduct extensive raids across all police stations and outpost limits overnight to apprehend fugitive criminals and those with warrants, which helped in disposing of pending cases.Besides, regular monitoring of the investigation until the case was disposed of helped in achieving the numbers.“Along with disposing of new cases, pending cases were taken up with equal focus to deliver justice to the survivors and reduce the burden of cases on the court,” the SP said.
