A social media influencer was beaten up by a group of people in Delhi over an internet post. The incident happened in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area, the video of which was widely shared on social media.
One of the videos showed a man, later identified as Deepak Sharma, lying on the road and being thrashed, an officer told news agency PTI.
Later, commenting on the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Vichitra Veer, said the attackers were identified as Pradeep Dhaka and friends.
“The attackers have been identified as Pradeep Dhaka and his friends," he said.
“A case under appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered, and a team has been formed to trace and apprehend the assailants," Vichitra Veer added.
Both Sharma and Dhaka claim to be social media influencers and had come to attend a common gathering at Mall Road, Tilak Nagar, he said.
“A dispute reportedly arose between them over certain social media posts," the officer said.
On Monday, Haryanvi music sensation Fazilpuria, known for his infectious beats and flamboyant style, escaped unhurt after unidentified assailants opened fire at his vehicle.

Media reports suggested that Fazilpuria, whose real name is Rahul Yadav, was in his car when several rounds were fired in what appears to be a planned and targeted attack.
The incident sent shockwaves across the regional music industry and among his fans.
