Spotify experienced a global outage on Monday (December 15), affecting tens of thousands of users. The Swedish music app, hit by a snag, disrupted streaming and login capabilities across multiple regions.
According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, reports of issues with the platform peaked at nearly 36,000 in the US and over 10,300 in the UK. In India, around 1300 reports were lodged. At the time of writing, the service seems to be on its way to being restored as downdetector shows a decline in reports. Spotify said on X (formerly Twitter), “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!”.Users quickly took to social media platforms, including X and Reddit, to flag numerous problems, including being unable to log into their accounts, difficulty accessing homepage and issues with song queue playback.According to downdetector, 80% of people reported issues regarding the app, 11% about login and 9% about its website. In one of the posts, the company Spotify announced that the issue had been resolved, however, people are still posting about issues.“We're seeing reports about users having login and playback issues with Spotify across multiple platforms,” the company said in its community support page. However, the company did not provide details on the specific cause of the widespread outage.The disruption marks the third major outage for the Stockholm-based streaming giant this year, following similar incidents reported in April and June.Developing story...
