An international conference titled ‘Breaking Barriers: Reimagining Centre–Margin Dynamics from Interdisciplinary Perspectives’ organised by the Department of Literature and Language at Easwari School of Liberal Arts, SRM University-AP, focussed on a critical reflection of the enduring binaries of centre and margin in the contemporary world.

Rajkumar, a professor from the University of Delhi, spoke about how entrenched hierarchies of power influence governance, identity, knowledge and belonging, while simultaneously exploring how the Centre-margin binary is not fixed and how power is a flexible entity.

Angshuman Kar from the University of Burdwan spoke on the ‘Marginality and Politics of Literary Repatriation of Australian Aborigines’ with multiple parallel sessions on a spectrum of topics on the first day of the three-day conference.

Vice-chancellor of SRM University-AP Ch. Satish Kumar observed that marginalisation exists in every sector, and it is the social fabric that determines marginalisation, overshadowed by the game of power dynamics.
