Bollywood largely stays silent; Sister Shweta says, 'Bhai remains very much alive'

Six years after the passing of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, his family and fans came together to honour his memory on social media. While admirers across the world shared messages, photographs and videos celebrating his life, his sisters posted heartfelt tributes. His sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, shared a lengthy note remembering his curiosity, kindness and passion for learning. She wrote, “Six years….Time has passed, yet some souls continue to grow larger than time itself. When I think of Bhai today, I do not think of how he left but I think of how he lived…I think of his childlike curiosity, his endless fascination with life, the stars, the universe, and the mysteries of the human mind.

I think of a heart that treated people with dignity, regardless of who they were. I think of someone who taught us that success means very little if it is not accompanied by compassion.”

Bollywood's silence

In previous years, several actors, directors and co-stars had marked Sushant's birth anniversary, death anniversary and film milestones with public messages. This year, however, many familiar names chose not to post tributes on social media. Among those who had remembered him on earlier occasions are Kriti Sanon, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Rajkummar Rao, Amit Sadh, Abhishek Kapoor, Disha Patani,

Jacqueline Fernandez

and Rhea Chakraborty. The absence of tribute posts from many industry colleagues became a talking point.

Bhumi Pednekar pays tribute

Among film personalities, Bhumi Pednekar was one of the few to publicly acknowledge the occasion. The actress remembered their collaboration in 'Sonchiriya' and paid tribute to the late actor. Meanwhile, Ankita Lokhande did not post a dedicated message. However, she reshared fan-created videos and tributes linked to their television journey together through her Instagram Stories. In another part of her message, Sushant's sister Shweta reflected on how love and influence extend beyond time. She wrote, “Over the years, I have come to realize something beautiful: love does not obey the rules of time. A body may leave our sight, but the impact of a beautiful soul continues to ripple through countless lives. Every time someone chooses kindness over anger, learning over ignorance, hope over despair, or love over judgment, a small part of what Bhai stood for continues to live.”She further added, “The greatest tribute we can offer him is not sadness. It is to live the values he embodied. Be curious. Be kind. Keep learning. Dream fearlessly. And never let the world harden your heart. The deepest measure of a life is not how long it lasted, but how many hearts it awakened. And by that measure, Bhai remains very much alive.” Concluding her note, she wrote, “You continue to inspire millions. Forever loved.

Forever remembered. @sushantsinghrajput
