Swara Samrat Award to be presented to Pandit Suhas Vyas in Dharwad on Sunday

Hindustani vocalist Pandit Suhas Vyas of Pune has been selected for the Swara Samrat Pandit Basavaraj Rajguru National Award for 2025-2026.

The award instituted by Swara Samrat Pandit Basavaraj Rajguru National Memorial Trust carries a cash prize of ₹1 lakh and a citation.

It will be presented at a function to mark the 105th birth anniversary of Rajguru to be held at the Alur Venkatrao Bhavan in Dharwad on Sunday.

Violinist Veena Dandavatimath of Dharwad and harmonium player Chidambar Joshi of Raichur have been selected for the young artist award which carries a purse of ₹25,000 and citation each.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti will present the awards.

Labour Minister Santosh Lad will inaugurate the programme. MLA Arvind Bellad will preside over the inaugural function.

The award presentation ceremony will be followed by a concert by the award winners.
