Tamil Nadu horror: Elderly woman tied to tree & assaulted over land dispute

KRISHNAGIRI: Tension flared near Kaveripattinam in Krishnagiri on Monday after a video went viral showing relatives tying an elderly woman to a tree, assaulting her, and attacking a man who tried to stop them.U Unnamalai, 70, lived with her two sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. On Sunday, her deceased husband's brother's son Kumar, along with other relatives, used a tractor to plough an unpartitioned plot. Unnamalai objected saying a property case was pending in court. Enraged, Kumar and his wife Kalpana tied her to a coconut tree, thrashed her, and ploughed land in front of her.On learning of the incident, Unnamalai's relative Annamalai, a BJP technical wing functionary from Dharmapuri, arrived. He was also assaulted by Kumar and his relatives. Unnamalai's relatives then alerted police, after which Kumar and Kalpana untied her and left.Police arrested Kumar, 53, Kalpana, 45, and a relative Prabhakaran on Monday, and remanded them in judicial custody.
