NEET PG students from Telangana have raised concerns over the ongoing postgraduate medical counselling process, urging authorities to intervene immediately to prevent what they describe as injustice to State candidates.
According to students, the issue was first flagged on December 15, when representations were made to the Telangana Junior Doctors’ Association (T-JUDA), following which continuous follow-ups were initiated with the concerned authorities. Based on the latest information shared with students, the reporting dates for Round 1 counselling conducted by Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) are likely to be extended, with an official notification expected shortly. At the same time, the All India Quota (AIQ) registration portal has been opened and will remain active until December 20.
T-JUDA has conveyed its appreciation to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and KNRUHS for acknowledging student concerns and taking steps aimed at streamlining the counselling process.
However, students say a key issue remains unresolved. Several Telangana candidates had secured postgraduate seats through AIQ Round 1 counselling. During the period when the AIQ resignation window was opened and subsequently extended, the State seat matrix and counselling schedule had not been released by KNRUHS. This created uncertainty and prevented many from resigning their AIQ seats within the stipulated time.
After the declaration of Telangana State Round 1 counselling results, a number of these students were allotted seats in better and more preferred institutions within the State. They are now unable to join these seats as the AIQ resignation portal has closed. With the last date for reporting currently fixed as December 18, students say they are facing intense stress, confusion and academic uncertainty.
The affected students have appealed for the immediate reopening of the AIQ resignation window by the MCC and an extension of the Telangana State PG joining and reporting deadlines, so that they are not denied admission due to procedural delays beyond their control.
