In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the November 10 Delhi car blast, an image has emerged, showing Dr Shaheen Saeed and Dr Muzammil together at a car showroom purchasing a Maruti Brezza.

According to officials, the vehicle, a CNG model acquired in an all-cash transaction, was bought on September 25, more than a month before the deadly explosion near Red Fort that killed 13 people and left several others injured.

The photograph, now part of the investigation dossier, shows Shaheen and Muzammil standing inside the showroom as the paperwork for the Brezza purchase was being completed.

Investigators say the car was bought in Shaheen Saeed’s name, and the mode of full cash payment has raised suspicion about the source of funds and the motive behind securing the vehicle in this manner.

Shaheen Saeed’s arrest has marked a major breakthrough in the case.

Once associated with GSVM Medical College in Kanpur between 2006 and 2012, Shaheen reportedly disappeared abruptly from academic life before resurfacing years later as a faculty member at Al-Falah University in Faridabad.

According to Delhi Police and central agencies, she is accused of having direct links to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and of attempting to set up a women-led recruitment network for the Pakistan-based terror outfit in India.

The November 10 blast, triggered by a white Hyundai i20 driven by suicide bomber Umar Nabi, occurred near Lal Qila Metro Station (Gate 1) in a densely crowded area adjacent to the Red Fort.

Investigators believe the attack was part of a larger coordinated effort, and new evidence, including the Brezza purchase, is being scrutinised to determine whether additional vehicles or modules were part of the plot.

Alongside Shaheen, Dr Muzammil has emerged as another key suspect.

Probe agencies reveal that between 2021 and 2022, Muzammil gravitated towards Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind, an ISIS-affiliated group, after cultivating ties with associates of slain terrorists.

He was allegedly introduced to the extremist network by an individual known as Irfan alias Maulvi, and is believed to have procured weapons in 2023 and 2024 as part of preparations for creating an independent terror unit.

The Brezza purchase is now being examined as a potential operational asset intended for use in future attacks. Investigators also suspect that the duo, along with other members of the broader module, may have planned additional operations targeting high-density civilian areas.

Authorities are currently verifying the duo’s financial transactions, communication chains, and movements between September and November.
