Tharun Bhascker is continuing to expand his repertoire of lead roles. The director, who made his debut as a lead actor with Meeku Maathrame Cheptha and has Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi and another untitled film in the pipeline, has now signed a new project.
He will play the lead role in the rural romantic-comedy Crazy Kalyanam, marking his first collaboration with Anupama Parameshwaran. “Crazy Kalyanam is a family entertainer set in a rural backdrop,” says the film’s director Badrappa Gajula, adding that most of the film was shot in Telangana’s Medak district. Emphasising the film’s regional flavour, he notes, “Tharun speaks in a rural Telangana accent in the movie.”On Anupama’s preparation, the director says, “She underwent workshops to understand the nuances and body language of rural Telangana girls. She has adapted well to the dialect and will be dubbing for her role herself.”
