The Hindu in School Science Festival and Ramanujan Spark Quest (Maths and Science Olympiad) will be conducted in Madikeri on December 13.
It will be held at Mythri Community Hall, FMC College Road, Mythri Junction, and the event features an inter-school competition to nurture scientific curiosity and mathematical talent among students. The event is also designed as a platform for students with innovative ideas on science concepts to showcase their talent.
The competition starts at 9 a.m. and is open to students from Kodagu district. There is no entry fee.
A team should include two students from Class 6 to Class 10.
Teams must report at the venue by 8.30 a.m., and students participating in the festival will have to demonstrate innovative, cost-effective working model projects under the Make in India concept.
For Ramanujan Spark Quest, each school can nominate five students each from Classes 6 to 10. Participants have to answer 50 questions in one hour, and total marks are 200.
There will be 30 questions based on science (physics, chemistry, biology) and the remaining 20 questions will be related to mathematics and mental ability. Each question has four options, and students have to select and shade the correct option on the OMR sheet with a ball pen.
Participants get four marks for every correct answer and one negative mark for every wrong answer. If two or more students have the same total score, the score in mathematics/mental ability will be used to break the tie.
For both the Science Festival and Ramanujan Spark Quest, the winner will receive a cash prize, trophies, and a merit certificate. The first and second runners-ups will also receive cash prizes, trophies, and merit certificates. Every participant will receive a participation certificate.
Excellent Moodbidri is the title sponsor for the event.
