Minister for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil said that leadership begins at student-level, and many leaders have emerged from college level. With this perspective, there is an intention to conduct elections at the college level.
Speaking to reporters during the release of CET Guide here on Friday, Dr. Patil, who is also the convener of the committee, said that the first meeting of the committee would be held on January 13.
To conduct elections in colleges, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D.K. Shivakumar has recently constituted a committee and appointed Dr. Patil as its convener.
The meeting will deliberate on the framework and modalities for conducting elections. Based on the decisions taken at the committee meeting, a report will be prepared and submitted to the KPCC president, Dr. Patil said.
The committee includes Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar, Chief Whip Saleem Ahmed, MLAs Rizwan Arshad and B. Shivanna, Legislative Council Members C. Puttanna, Basavanagouda Badarli, H.S. Manjunath Gowda, and Keerthi Ganesh.
Menstrual leave in colleges: CM’s decision final
“If the Chief Minister issues directions to provide menstrual leave to college and university students, it will be implemented. The Chief Minister’s decision will be final,” Dr. Patil said, on menstrual leave.
He also clarified that there has been no discussion on increasing fees for engineering and medical seats.
