Three red sanders smugglers arrested, 26 logs seized in Prakasam district

The Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) on Thursday (August 21, 2025) arrested three smugglers and seized 26 red sanders logs and a motor cycle at Giddaluru Forest Division in Prakasam district.

Under the direction of Taskforce head L. Subbarayudu, the team led by Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Srinivas along with Kadapa Sub-Control RSI P. Naresh’s team launched a combing operation at the Bestavaripet forest area of Giddaluru Forest Range in Prakasam district on Wednesday night (August 20, 2025).

When they reached Gunthapalli Beat area, the officers saw some people gathered around a motorcycle. As the accused spotted the RSASTF team, they tried to escape. However, the task force personnel chased them and caught three persons. Upon questioning, the accused informed the officers of the 26 red sandalwood logs hidden under the culvert.

The arrested were identified as residents of Prakasam district. They were taken to Tirupati Task Force Police Station along with the logs and the motorcycle. DSP Srinivasa Reddy and ACF Srinivas interrogated them, while Head Constable Subramanyam Raju registered the case and the investigation is on.
