From August 15, 2025, FASTag will be mandatory for all vehicles entering Tirumala to ease traffic and ensure smooth, secure, and cashless toll payments

Every day, thousands of people visit Lord Venkateswara, whom devotees revere as the living god of learning. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has made a significant decision for those visiting Tirumala Srivari Darshan. This new rule will come into effect from August 15, 2025. What is the rule? Who will it affect? What must devotees do? Find the detailed information here. (Local18)

TTD has officially announced that FASTag will be compulsory for all vehicles entering Tirumala. This decision is based on several factors: the increasing number of cars near the Alipiri Checkpost, the main route to Tirumala; enhanced security measures for devotees; increased transparency in toll collection; and a reduction in travel time. What if a vehicle does not have a FASTag? Vehicles without FASTag will be refused entry from August 15. Devotees will need to park at the base of the hill and travel to Tirumala by bus. Therefore, it is mandatory for devotees travelling in their own vehicles to have a FASTag fitted. TTD urges devotees to ensure that FASTag is installed and functioning before arriving at Tirumala. This rule aims to ease traffic congestion near the Alipiri inspection centre, enabling devotees a quicker and smoother journey to Tirumala. For those without FASTag, TTD has made arrangements for its installation near the Alipiri inspection centre. Officials have set up a dedicated FASTag installation facility there and have appealed to devotees to obtain FASTag prior to reaching the checkpoint to avoid unnecessary delays. (Local18)

FASTag is an electronic toll collection system designed to automate toll fee payments for vehicles. It is a rechargeable Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sticker affixed to the vehicle’s front windscreen. When a vehicle approaches a toll plaza, the FASTag is scanned, and the toll fee is automatically deducted from the linked bank account or wallet. This allows for swift and cashless travel. (Local18)

Officials stated that this initiative is crucial for traffic management, simplifying and facilitating the journey for devotees. The use of FASTag not only reduces traffic congestion but also ensures transparent payments. It is mandatory on several national highways across India. (Local18)
