Tovino Thomas starrer 'Lokah Chapter 2' to begin filming by late 2026; makers eye 2027 Onam release - Reports

Reports say ‘Lokah Chapter 2’, starring Tovino Thomas, could start filming by late 2026. The team is also said to be aiming for an Onam 2027 theatrical release. The update follows the success of ‘Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra’, which opened in August 2025 and became a big Onam hit.

According to trackers, the second chapter will focus on the character Chathan, also known as Michael, portrayed by Tovino Thomas, and is already generating strong buzz despite the absence of an official announcement.

Tovino Thomas made a cameo appearance in the first chapter as Michael, revealed as Chathan or the goblin. Reports state that the sequel will track the story of Chathan, shifting the narrative focus entirely to his character.

If production stays on track, ‘Lokah 2’ could repeat the Onam release strategy that worked well for the first film.

Franchise plans and returning cast

Helmed by Dominic Arun, Lokah is envisioned as a five-part superhero franchise. The first chapter explored the story of Chandra, also known as Neeli. The second chapter centers on Michael. Another planned installment will focus on Charlie, the Odiyan, played by Dulquer Salmaan. The remaining chapters and their lead characters are yet to be revealed. Reports also confirm that Mammootty will appear in the franchise as Moothon, the elder.
