Tripura CM unveils plans for women's university

Agartala: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha announced plans to establish a Women's University in the state. Speaking at the 64th Teachers’ Day program, Saha emphasized the govt's commitment to empowering women through education.The announcement comes alongside a series of educational initiatives, including the opening of three new government colleges and the distribution of scooters to female students under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana to promote higher education."We are dedicated to the advancement of girls' education," Saha stated. "We have waived fees for female students in government colleges, and the establishment of a Women's University is underway to further empower them," he said.The CM also highlighted the state's transformation into an education hub, with increased MBBS seats and the establishment of Dental and Nursing colleges. He noted the interest from various universities in setting up campuses in Tripura, attributing this to the prevailing peace in the state.Saha paid tribute to teachers, describing them as innovators who shape students' lives by imparting knowledge and values. He also mentioned the implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s National Education Policy in Tripura, which includes new reforms and a transparent recruitment process for hiring top-tier teachers.
