A police officer was assaulted in South Tripura's Bilonia town after violence broke out between two local groups during a Vijaya Dashami procession. Three people have been arrested so far.

Tripura Police said they have identified those involved in the attack.
Tension gripped South Tripura's Bilonia town on Friday night after the officer-in-charge of Bilonia police station, Shibu Ranjan Dey, was attacked while responding to a violent altercation between two local groups, officials said.
The trouble began when members of the Oriental Club allegedly obstructed a Vijaya Dashami procession organised by the No. 1 Tila Merchant Association. What started as an argument soon spiralled into a confrontation, prompting police intervention.
According to sources, OC Dey arrived at the scene with his team and tried to defuse the situation. But when he attempted to turn off the Oriental Club's sound system, several people reportedly attacked him. Dey sustained injuries in the assault.
As the situation worsened, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bilonia rushed to the area with reinforcements. Additional forces were deployed to restore order as tensions ran high late into the night.
Police said they have identified those involved in the attack and arrested three people so far. Authorities confirmed that strict action will be taken against all accused.
