Soobin opens up about the treatment he faced as an idol

Recently, during a livestream, the singer shared a few anecdotes from his days as a trainee. While sharing one of the instances, he recalled how, when learning choreographies, he and his fellow bandmate Taehyun used to get hit.

He shared that as middle schoolers, the two of them were told to learn a choreography by their seniors, SEVENTEEN. SVT is known for its hard and powerful choreographies, making the feat a major challenge for the two.

While talking about this, they shared that they were left on their own to learn the choreo, and tried to do it while watching a video at half the speed. Since they had only just started dancing, they were unable to execute the choreography properly.

During this time, Taehyun, who was also watching the live stream, came into the comment section and shared how they were hit at the time. Another shocking detail that Soobin revealed was that there were a lot of trainees working alongside Taehhyun and him, many of whom were weaker in learning how to dance. He pointed that the harder it was for a trainee to learn a choreo, the more times they were hit. These comments about their past enraged fans and netizens to the core, with many expressing their disdain over the matter online.

Fans and netizens react

Many pointed out that, beyond hitting someone being a bad thing, targeting children is a much worse offence. A comment under the now viral video read, “still here thinking about how ridiculous it is to ask new trainees with little to no dance experience to learn an advanced choreo by themselves, and when they obviously don’t do that well, you smack them around enough for them to be scared”.Another fan shared, “I'm glad they talked about it, people need to realise what this industry is like.

I'm glad they're not beating people up any more, but that doesn't mean they're not being treated harshly anymore :(“.Another comment read, “hitting anyone is wrong - but hitting a bunch of kids who most likely were away from their family and home, who were directly under your care and your responsibility, is a level of evil that makes my blood boil. i truly hope those people have no power over anyone nowadays”.
