A major accident was averted on Friday night when Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister for Women and Child Development, Baby Rani Maurya, narrowly escaped injury after her car collided with a truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway.

According to officials, the Minister was travelling from Agra to Lucknow after attending several events in her charge district, Hathras. The incident took place near Naseerpur area in Firozabad district, around the 56th kilometre mark of the expressway.

Police said traffic on the expressway was temporarily operating in a single lane when the truck moving ahead of the Minister's Fortuner reportedly suffered a tyre burst. The vehicle lost control and rammed into her car. The impact left the Maurya's vehicle badly damaged, though no one sustained injuries.

The Fortuner's driver managed to bring the situation under control and prevent a more serious mishap. Upon receiving information, a local police team reached the spot and arranged another vehicle for the Minister to continue her journey to Lucknow.

Authorities have seized the truck involved in the collision. Police confirmed that traffic was not disrupted and no injuries were reported. Following the accident, Minister Maurya instructed officials to take stronger safety measures to prevent similar incidents on the expressway.
