Vadalur bus terminus declared open

Minister for Municipal Administration K.N. Nehru and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare M.R.K. Panneerselvam inaugurated the new bus terminus at Vadalur on Monday, along with various civic infrastructure projects executed at a cost ₹5.27 crore.

The new bus terminus, with a built-up area of 6,530 sq.m., had been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹7.53 crore. The ground floor features parking bays for 21 buses, 50 commercial shops, a passenger waiting area, a food court, a security room, sanitation complexes and drinking water facilities. The first floor houses 60 commercial shops.

Mr. Nehru also inaugurated the renovated Bakthavachalam Market in Cuddalore built under the Kalaignar Urban Development Scheme at an estimated cost of ₹5.27 crore. The project, which fulfilled a long-pending demand of residents, commenced in 2025.

The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) has been implementing two drinking water projects worth ₹488 crore for supplying 27 million litres of water per day in Cuddalore district. In addition, a combined drinking water supply scheme benefiting Chidambaram Municipality, Annamalai Nagar Town Panchayat, Kumaratchi and 10 village Panchayats estimated at ₹256 crore is under way. The projects on completion will provide an additional 13 million litres of water per day to over 2 lakh residents, he added.

District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar was present.
