Valuables worth Rs 15 lakh looted from trader’s house in Madhepura

Madhepura: Armed dacoits broke into the house of a local trader and looted valuables worth around Rs15 lakh after holding the family captive at gunpoint at Brahmottar village under Bharrahi police station in Madhepura district late Tuesday night.The victim, Tej Narayan Gupta, said, “Only my wife and I were present in the house-cum-shop when the incident occurred. I was sleeping when the masked robbers entered the house from the back and held us captive at gunpoint. They took away Rs5 lakh in cash, jewellery worth Rs9 lakh, and other valuables. The dacoits locked us in a room from outside and fled.”Hearing the victims’ cries, local residents rushed to the spot, opened the door, and rescued them. The villagers then informed the police.After receiving the information, Bharrahi SHO Armod Kumar reached the spot and began an investigation. “An FSL team is working on the case, and raids are underway to arrest the criminals,” Madhepura SDPO Pravendra Bharti said.
