Video shows minor boys slapping, kicking younger children in Tamil Nadu

A video showing minor boys allegedly assaulting younger children in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar went viral on social media, triggering concern among residents.

The footage showed a group of minors questioning three younger children over an issue before allegedly taking them to a secluded spot and assaulting them.

The boys were seen slapping and kicking the children repeatedly, even as the children cried.

Initial information indicated that the younger children had reportedly informed village elders about a group of minors allegedly smoking ganja.

Following the video going viral, the families of the children filed a complaint at the Amathur police station and said they were awaiting a response.

In a case reported earlier, a Class 4 student in Jaipur died by suicide after allegedly facing sustained bullying at school. The child’s family said she was repeatedly subjected to abusive language by classmates over nearly 18 months, despite complaints being raised with teachers and school authorities.

Following the incident, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a notice to the school, seeking an explanation over the handling of the complaints.
