A member of the Village Defence Group (VDG) opened fire on Friday after claiming to have noticed suspicious movement in the Desa area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.

Police teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident and are currently verifying the circumstances that led to the firing. No injuries or damage have been reported so far.

According to officials, this is not the first such incident involving the same individual. The VDG member had earlier opened fire on December 14, citing similar suspicions. However, police checks at that time did not find any suspicious presence or threat in the area.

Authorities said the situation is under control and further investigation is underway.
