People gather at the site from where the body was dug out at Rajbandha Sahi in Keonjhar district
Keonjhar: Villagers in Rajbandha Sahi in Keonjhar district’s Upperdiha gram panchayat were in for a shock on Wednesday when police began digging near their homes and recovered the semi-decomposed body of missing traffic constable Subhamitra Sahoo around 3 pm.The body was excavated with the help of a JCB machine in the presence of a magistrate and forensic team near the homes of Papu Bhuyan and Jatia Mohanta, both accomplices in the crime. They have been detained. The body was sent to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital for autopsy.“The place is barely 100 metres from my house. And I had no clue that the murdered women was buried there,” said Narayan Mohanta, a small-time trader.
Golak Bal, a businessman of Nakajhari village, was also stunned that crime took place 1 km from his village.Bhubaneswar police assisted by Keonjhar police interrogated Deepak Rout, a clerk in Twin City police commissioner’s office, who confessed to murdering his wife and burying her body. The operation, delayed by rain, was carried out under tight security and led by a DSP-ranked officer, with support from sub-inspectors, ASIs, and constables.
