Taratala warehouse collapse kills three, injures 18, rescue by Army, NDRF, SDRF and Kolkata Police continues as families await updates.

Several videos have emerged of Kolkata’s Taratala where three people died and 18 injured when roof of an under-construction warehouse collapsed in Kolkata’s Taratala area.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari in a post on X said roof of an under-construction warehouse building near Brace Bridge in Taratala, where several workers got trapped beneath the debris.
“Rescue and relief operations are currently being carried out on a war footing. The Army, NDRF, SDRF, Kolkata Police and KMC are jointly conducting the rescue operations to ensure every trapped worker is brought to safety as quickly as possible. 18 injured people have been rescued safely so far. I pray for their quick recovery," he said.
Along with the post, the CM also shared a video of the ongoing rescue operation.

Several videos of the site and rescue operation have emerged on social media. Visuals from the area showed rescue workers navigating through mangled steel sections and large piles of debris.

According to IANS, the injured are being rushed to SSKM Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Health Secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam reached SSKM Hospital to take stock of the situation.
Besides, Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul has also reached the site to inspect the ongoing rescue operation.
Durbasha Malla, a resident of Char Shambhu Nagar under the Kotwali Police Station limits in Krishnanagar, was severely injured when a building collapsed in Kolkata’s Taratala area. He is the sole breadwinner of his family. Driven by poverty, he had moved to Kolkata five months ago to find work. On [Day] afternoon, his family members received the news of his injuries from the police, triggering widespread panic and anxiety back home. As the only earning member, Malla supports a large household that includes his two daughters, a son, and a visually impaired elder brother.
“My father is the only earning member of our family. He went to work there five months ago just to put food on our table. We are terrified about what will happen now," one of his daughters, Reena Malla, said.
One of their relatives, Sunita said: “The entire family depends completely on him. With him injured, the future of his children and his visually impaired brother hangs in the balance. We are in a state of utter shock."
The collapsed structure belonged to Behera Brothers, which was setting up a multi-storeyed warehouse and cold storage facility.
