The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has announced an 18-hour water supply shutdown in several parts of Secunderabad on October 27, to facilitate ongoing works related to the construction of the elevated corridor from Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm Road along NH-44.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) will be replacing an existing 800 mm diameter mild steel (MS) pipeline at Paradise Junction. To enable junction work and interconnection of the newly laid 800 mm MS pipeline between Marredpally and the Control Room, at Ch. No. 200 (Sports Ground) and Ch. No. 650 (Lee Royal Junction, Balamrai), the shutdown will be in effect from 12 p.m. on October 27 to 6 a.m. on October 28.

During this period, there will be no water supply in areas served by the following reservoirs: Nallagutta, Prakashnagar, Mekalamandi, Boudhanagar, Srinivasanagar, and Pattigadda. Other affected localities include Bholakpur, Kavadiguda, and Sitaphalmandi, as well as Hasmathpet, Ferozguda, and Gowthamnagar.

Bulk consumers such as South Central Railways (Secunderabad), Military Engineering Services (MES), and Begumpet Airport will also face disruption. In addition, areas under the Secunderabad Cantonment Board, including Balamrai Pump House, Balamrai Checkpost, Bowenpally, and the AOC Railway Colony — will experience suspension of supply during the shutdown period, said a repease.
