Akshaye Khanna, currently being praised for his role as Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar, once shared a deeply emotional moment on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs Season 6 in 2017. Appearing on the show alongside Sridevi to promote their film Mom, the actor—son of legendary star Vinod Khanna—spoke about his late father’s favourite song, a moment that stayed with viewers.
Akshaye Khanna on his father’s favourite song
During the episode, contestant Dhroon Tickoo performed Ruk Jaana Nahin from the 1974 film 'Imtihan'. The song was originally picturised on Vinod Khanna. Akshaye shared that it was his father’s most loved song. He said, “This song was my father’s favourite song, and you sang it so beautifully. I am so glad that I could see you performing this song live, as it was absolutely mesmerising.”He later praised the contestant further, saying, “This is one of my favourite songs too, and you sang it with so much soul and passion.
I’m completely touched. You are a great singer. Keep up the good work.”
About the song Ruk Jaana Nahin
The song is from the film 'Imtihan' (1974), starring Vinod Khanna, Tanuja and Bindu. The movie is inspired by the 1967 British film To Sir, with Love. The lyrics of Ruk Jaana Nahin were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by Laxmikant–Pyarelal. The song was sung by
