A female streamer from Germany was attacked while livestreaming during New Year’s Eve celebrations in the streets of Cologne, according to German media reports. The incident happened as large crowds gathered to welcome the new year.

A video of the attack later spread quickly on social media and gained millions of views, drawing widespread attention. The streamer, known online as Kunshikitty, has more than 200,000 followers on Twitch. She was broadcasting live from Cologne when the incident occurred. The video has raised fresh concerns about public safety for women, especially during major public events. The attack also comes exactly ten years after mass assaults against women were reported across Germany during New Year’s Eve celebrations in 2015.

Kunshikitty streams the attack live as German police investigate the incident

According to the German outlet BILD, Kunshikitty was walking through a crowded street while streaming when someone appeared to throw an object at her head. A short time later, she was struck by another item. The publication reported that the object may have been a firework, but police have not officially confirmed that detail.During the livestream, the streamer reacted in pain and said she had been hit on the head. She later stated that she planned to report the incident to the police.

Cologne police told BILD that they opened an investigation after the video began circulating online. As of Thursday evening, authorities had not shared details about suspects or a possible motive.BILD also reported that Kunshikitty suggested the attack would not have happened if she were physically larger, implying that she was targeted because she was a woman. Despite the incident, she continued streaming for more than an hour afterward.

This was not the first time she faced such issues. Earlier in 2025, she was reportedly verbally and physically harassed while streaming during Oktoberfest. The incident happened amid broader violence across Europe on New Year’s Eve. The BBC reported that police in the Netherlands faced extreme aggression, including fireworks thrown at officers and petrol bombs used in some cities. Several people were injured, and two deaths were linked to firework accidents. The Cologne attack also revived memories of New Year’s Eve 2015, when more than 1,000 women across Germany reported assaults. In Cologne alone, police recorded over 500 cases, many involving sexual assault. Those events led to national debate and protests.Police say the current case remains under investigation, and more information is expected in the coming days. Also Read: MrBeast drops a nine-figure reality check on Elon Musk’s X, breaks down why beating YouTube on creator revenue is “pretty hard”
