G.K. Mani with S. Ramadoss. File

Former PMK president G.K. Mani on Monday said he is willing to quit the party if PMK leader Anbumani and his estranged father and PMK founder S. Ramadoss resolve their differences.

Addressing journalists in Chennai, Mr. Mani said it was unfair to label him a traitor and he has never thought or has been disloyal to Dr. Anbumani.

“Many, including myself, convinced Dr. Ramadoss that Dr. Anbumani should become a Union Minister when he was just 35. He (party founder) was very angry with me and said he would stay true to his promise (of not allowing his family members and himself to assume any governmental posts),” he said, adding that he prevailed upon Dr. Ramadoss.

Mr. Mani further said he was also instrumental in Dr. Anbumani becoming a Rajya Sabha member thereafter. “I am really sad and disappointed at the accusations thrown against me. In fact, whenever I tell Dr. Ramadoss to be patient with Dr. Anbumani...he has been extremely dismissive of what I have said...stating I should ask Dr. Anbumani to co-operate with everyone,” he said.
