Woman, daughter die after being hit by locomotive near Salem

SALEM: A woman and her daughter died after being hit by a locomotive near Mecheri in Salem district on Monday.K Bakkiyam, 54, of Manathal village and her daughter Manju, 25, were crushed to death by the engine around 9.30am while they were crossing the railway tracks. They were going to their workplace.

Railway police retrieved the bodies and sent them to the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Railway police registered a case.
