The four-day workshop on ‘Scientific writing’ concluded this weekend at the Regional Horticultural Research Station (RHRS), Tirupati, with 15 eminent scientists engaged in research work on fruits participating in the event.

The event was conducted by ICAR’s All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Fruits at its Citrus Research Station campus, Tirupati, which is a unit of Dr. YSR Horticultural University, Andhra Pradesh.

The ICAR-AICRP on Fruits is considered a backbone of India’s coordinated horticultural research efforts for several decades, spanning 47 centres, 92 scientists conducting 117 experiments on 10 mandatory crops, ensuring region-specific technological development.

According to RHRS Associate Director of Research (Rayalaseema) Ch. Ruth, the workshop was meant to improve the scientific writing skills of the researchers by facilitating data compilation and standardising research outcomes across different centres.

In his virtual address to the students and researchers, Deputy Director-General (Horticulture) in Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) S.K. Singh stressed the importance of excellence in research as well as structured scientific communication and high quality publications.

Dr. YSRHU Registrar B. Srinivasulu, attended the plenary session in the virtual mode. Prakash Patil from Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, acted as the chairman of the workshop, with Principal Scientist S. Priya Devi as the organising secretary.
