'Would she break legs of BJP leaders’ daughters who married Muslims?': Congress lashes out at Pragya Thakur’s remark

BHOPAL: The Opposition Congress has reacted sharply to a viral video clip purportedly showing former BJP MP from Bhopal Pragya Thakur exhorting parents of Hindu girls to "break legs" of their daughters if they meet "Vidharmis", obviously meaning boys from Muslim religion.

"If our daughter goes to a Vidharmi's place, don't hesitate to break her legs because one who doesn't listen to words, doesn't care for traditions has to be chastised", she says in a video clip, which is said to be of an event in Bhopal earlier this month, but became viral on social media on Saturday. Amidst clapping, she further says that when a girl child is born, her mother would say "Laxmi is born in our house or Saraswari is born in our family but when she grows up and shows inclination to marry a Muslim, she must be stopped by words or by force". Reacting sharply to Sadhvi Pragya's 'advice' to parents of Hindu girls, K K Mishra, spokesperson for the state Congress chief Jitu Patwari, said "Sadhvi Pragya, who praises Godse, is now asking parents of Hindu girls to break their legs if they meet a boy from other religion. There are several top leaders from BJP and the RSS, whose daughters or close relatives have married Muslims, would she go and break their legs?" He further said that members of 'Machhali' family in Bhopal, who were allegedly involved in 'love jihad' and sexual exploitation of Hindu girls had close ties with some BJP leaders, who patronised him.

Why doesn't she break the legs of such BJP leaders? He asked. He further pointed out that she was quiet when 'Machhalis' were arrested and their 'shameful' acts were exposed to the public and asked if she was on a foreign tour or was not in a position to speak then. Repeated attempts to contact Pragya Thakur for a comment proved futile as she didn't pick up her mobile.
