North and central Kerala likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall for next few days

A yellow alert warning of isolated heavy rain has been issued for six districts, including Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, on Wednesday. According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday, a low-pressure area formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal on Tuesday.

It is likely to become more marked over the same region during the next 24 hours and will move west-northwestwards thereafter across Odisha during the subsequent 24 hours.

Under the influence of the system, north and central Kerala are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for Kasaragod, Kannur, and Kozhikode on Thursday. Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the Kerala coasts until Thursday.
